Whilst I was in University I would always be mesmerized with the structure of our library. Before getting inside for my evening study, I would just stand outside and marvel at the design of this building. Standing outside at the center is a two-story building with large glass windows that flood the interior with natural light. Flanking it are two blocks—a single-story block on the left and a three-story block on the right. I would often wonder who designed this, who was the architect behind this, cause at the stage of life i was at, this was impressive.

I would like to believe that you also have a building/structure you always get marvelled with. It could be the Burj Khlaifa in Dubai or it could be something like the London Eye. Just by looking at these two you can tell there was a designer behind such a complex and yet beautiful structure.

The same applies to the Universe. You can agree with me that behind every complex design is a designer, the universe has a complex design, therefore the universe must have a designer. A car points to a manufacturer, a watch points to a watch maker and an iPhone points to Steve Jobs.

The world is finely tuned to support life – in short, someone knew mankind was coming. Check this:

  1. Oxygen currently makes up 21 % of the atmosphere. Were it 25 %, fires would erupt everywhere and if it were 15 %, humans would suffocate.
  2. If gravity was altered by 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000001 (40 zeros) percent, the sun would not exist, and the moon would crash into earth.
  3. If the centrifugal force of planetary movements did not precisely balance the gravitational forces, nothing could be held in orbit around the sun.
  4. If the universe was expanding at a rate one millionth more slowly than it is, the temperature on earth would be 10,000 degrees.
  5. If Jupiter was not exactly where it is, earth would be bombarded by space material that would threaten life on the planet.
  6. If the thickness of the earth’s crust was greater, too much oxygen would be transferred to the crust to support life, and if it were thinner, volcanic, and tectonic activity would make life impossible.
  7. The axis of the earth is set so carefully that, if it were altered ever so slightly, surface temperatures of the earth would be far too great.
  8. If water vapor levels in the atmosphere were greater than they are now, a runaway greenhouse effect would cause temperatures to rise far too high on the planet – life would die out. And if they were less, an insufficient greenhouse effect would make the earth too cold to support life.

You might think this was just by chance. If that is the case then may fresh baked bread appear before you now!

Imagine you are walking through the woods and find a watch lying on the ground. What would your first thought be? That random factors over time just happened to form a watch and then cough it up from the ground? That stray bits of metal chanced to assemble themselves in a way that just happened to be useful? That a spring was formed with no purpose and inadvertently came across a cog that was formed with no purpose and then were joined accidentally to a number of other gears, springs, and cogs, eventually forming a fully functioning and accurate instrument that could measure time? Of course not. You would assume someone had dropped it. This is because of its obvious design features. The precision and intentionality of the mechanism betray a purpose, a plan. There must have been an intelligence who conceived of the watch and its workings and then created the watch. – William Paley (Natural Theology).

Chance can’t cause something, chance is not a being, it is just a mathematical probability. When you look at the odds ( what the chances are) it becomes evident that it is not a probability , it is an IMPOSSIBILITY.

The only option we have is an intelligent Designer. And that that designer states that

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1 ESV

“In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being. In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men.” John 1:14 AMP

For an electric car to function fully it needs to be charged and not to pour in fuel. Same as humanity, for us to understand life, walk in our purpose we need to connect to the One True Source, and that is Jesus Christ. Therefore, I pray this plants a seed in you to explore more on your Creator. There are several Arguments like:

  • Cosmological → God as cause of the universe.
  • Teleological → God as designer.
  • Ontological → God as a necessary being.
  • Moral → God as moral lawgiver.
  • Experience, consciousness, beauty, and miracles → God as the best explanation for human and natural phenomena.
